Job Description

  • (Internal Title-Project Management V)
    • Responsible for the assigned projects from inception through to completion
    • Lead the planning, design, and construction of new underground transit stations
    • Oversee all phases of project delivery, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, safety, and quality standards
    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of works associated with underground transit station projects from concept to commissioning
    • Manage multidisciplinary teams including engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors
    • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, budgets, schedules, and risk registers
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements
    • Coordinate with City, municipal and provincial agencies, as well as utility companies and community stakeholders and the Toronto Transit Commissions
    • Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with e.g., architects, designers, M&E resources, structural and civil engineers, building surveyors, structural surveyors, property consultants, planning consultants, contractors, cost consultants, and other specialists.
    • Oversee procurement processes including RFQs, RFPs, contract negotiations, and vendor management, particularly with progressive contract models (PDB, Alliance)
    • Monitor construction progress, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions as needed
    • Prepare and present project reports to senior leadership and external stakeholders
    • Champion sustainability, innovation, and best practices in underground transit design and construction
  • Working Conditions

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 18 years of experience in Project Management
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Engineering or Design Management, as well as Construction delivery experience
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Licenses OR Certifications:
    • Holding a recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Deep expertise in underground infrastructure, stakeholder management, and large-scale capital project execution
    • Strong understanding of design principles and engineering methodologies
    • Project management experience on large scale civil engineering projects, preferably rapid transit projects
    • Experience working with a large team of technical professionals and large-scale contractors
    • Experience of novel progressive contract models, including PDB and/or Alliance
    • Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities
    • Proficient in Project Management software
    • Must maintain professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices
    • Effectively lead multi-resource Project Management teams
    • Ability to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension
    • Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently on creative and analytical tasks in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
    • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment by ensuring effective teamwork, promotion of innovation, and overall excellence
    • Demonstrated functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
    • Proven success in providing effective leadership by building and motivating teams to meet project goals and adhere to their responsibilities and project milestones
    • Capability to understand the interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs
