About the role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 3 days on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

Reporting to the ATBIM’s (ATB Investment Management) Head of Multi-Asset Strategies, the Senior Investment Analyst is primarily responsible for researching global macro ideas, conducting portfolio analysis, and implementing investment ideas into ATBIM portfolios. The individual is an investor at heart and has a deep curiosity about markets. This position requires a good understanding of investment products, industry trends, and relevant global macro economic data. The Senior Investment Analyst is also required to provide research, oversight, trading, investment content and fund administration duties as needed for the ATBIM funds and model portfolios.

Accountabilities

  • Daily trading of cash flows across the investment platform. Monitor for cash and liquidity as required.
  • Proficiency in working with large data sets, performing quantitative analysis, and actively contributing to investment discussions.
  • Strong quantitative foundation and working knowledge of long-term capital markets forecasting to be used in modelling.
  • Conduct macroeconomic and quantitative research to identify market inefficiencies and generate investment ideas.
  • Good understanding of financial markets, different asset classes, and portfolio and risk management techniques.
  • Experience working with various internal teams such as Trading, Investment Operations, Finance, Tax, Legal and Compliance.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze portfolio performance, attributing returns and preparing regular reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills to provide regular written updates.
  • Contribution to monthly investment committee meetings.
  • Coordinate with other internal experts to provide individualized investment solutions for advisor team.
  • Coordinate with other internal experts to create timely investment content for advisors and end-clients.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • Strong understanding of financial markets. This includes broad knowledge of investment solutions, equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field, e.g. economics, finance, data science, engineering, math
  • Completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) program desirable
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Works well with minimal supervision
  • Required core technical skills: Bloomberg, Python, SQL, Excel, VBA
  • Extremely detail-oriented with an ability to produce high quality work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities
  • Experience with portfolio construction and analysis
  • Experience with any of the following is an asset: quantitative strategies, optimization, factor models
