About the role
This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 1 day on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.
As ATB's next Strategy Manager, you are focused on enhancing the credit granting process for business lending matters, primarily for borrowers exceeding $1 million. This role requires a deep understanding of credit risk, regulatory guidelines, and industry trends. The Strategy Manager will drive strategic initiatives, research and develop credit policies, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective risk management and lending practices.
Accountabilities

Strategic Planning:
Conduct research on emerging trends, best practices, and industry developments to inform credit strategies.
Develop and implement credit policies and guidelines that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
Interpret and translate complex regulatory guidance into practical policies and processes to enhance Credit Risk Management’s control environment.

Project & Stakeholder Management:
Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Represent Credit Risk Management on cross-functional projects that diversify the credit portfolio across different client segments, industries or geographies, to support growth while maintaining risk appetite.

Risk Management and Lending Practices:
Serve as a subject matter expert on credit policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure that credit policies and procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements, changing market conditions, emerging risks, and industry best practices.
Identify gaps in controls/processes and work with stakeholders to remediate vulnerabilities and enhance resilience.
Skills, experience & requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Accounting, Business, Finance).
Minimum 7 years of experience in Relationship/Account Management or a credit adjudication role. Process Improvement experience would be considered an asset.
In-depth knowledge of business lending policies, processes, and regulatory requirements.
Strong understanding of credit principles, risk management, and lending practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently, think creatively, and drive change.
Passion for innovation and leveraging technology in credit risk management.
