About the role:
Reporting to the Chief Technology and Experience Officer, the SVP, Data, AI & Banking Operations is the visionary leader of ATB’s data ecosystem. This executive role is responsible for driving value creation and risk mitigation by transforming data into a strategic business asset. You will lead the "ATB Expert Advisory" strategy, delivering data-driven advice that empowers both team members and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Data & AI Strategy: Define and execute a 10-year enterprise data and analytics strategy that aligns with ATB’s digital innovation goals and business outcomes.
- Governance & Ethics: Driving enterprise-wide frameworks for data governance, algorithmic transparency, and information policy to ensure security, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Innovation & Monetization: Lead research and development for new data products and services, expanding ATB’s market presence and growing revenue through direct and indirect data monetization.
- Platform & Capability Oversight: Direct the development and deployment of enterprise-grade data platform and application management, sourcing models, and advanced analytical tools (AI/ML) to augment human performance and automate decision-making.
- Data-First Culture: Champion data literacy and a data-driven mindset across the enterprise, ensuring all business lines can effectively interpret and exploit data assets.
- Strategic Partnerships: Manage a hybrid ecosystem of internal talent and external vendor partners, maintaining ATB’s control over execution while maximizing efficiency and innovation.
- Banking Operations: Lead and execute on critical banking operations for the enterprise across back office functions.

- Strategic Influence & Ecosystem Developer: Acts as a high-impact Brand Ambassador and Internal Catalyst, leveraging executive presence and high EQ to embed a data-driven DNA across the enterprise while cultivating a premier industry network to secure a world-class talent pipeline and position the organization as a leader in the global AI ecosystem.
- Client Data Management: transforming the enterprise data ecosystem into a high-velocity revenue engine by orchestrating predictive life-event advisory, autonomous credit staging, and Open Banking APIs that empower both client-directed agents and front-line advisors to deliver hyper-personalized, market-leading financial experiences.
Accreditation & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Science. Professional training in legal/regulatory areas is highly desirable.
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive business experience, with 8–10 years specifically in data, analytics, or technology leadership at the executive level.
- 5+ years leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide transformation programs within complex organizational contexts.
- Proven track record in integrating complex information strategies and designing strategic metrics/scorecards.
- Background in strategy or management consulting is preferred.
Core Skills
- Data Literacy & Translation: Exceptional ability to translate between the languages of "quants," IT, and business executives to describe use cases and analytical options.
- Financial Services Acumen: Deep understanding of banking business processes, including risk, regulatory factors, and information flow requirements.
- Technical Domain Expertise: Knowledge across data warehousing, BI, MDM, data security/privacy, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Executive Gravitas: The ability to "sell" complex ideas to the Board and stakeholders, driving cultural and technological change in a dynamic environment.
- Strategic AI Orchestration: Deep understanding of the AI Lifecycle, including Large Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and the deployment of autonomous agents within a regulated environment.
- Change Management & AI Fluency: The "gravitas" to lead a cultural shift, moving the organization from basic data literacy to advanced AI Fluency, where team members effectively co-pilot with digital agents.
- Unstructured Data Literacy: Proven capability in extracting structured value from unstructured sources—transforming voice, text, and image data into actionable business intelligence.
- Regulatory & Ethical Fluency: Advanced knowledge of global AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, Canadian AIDA) and the ability to build "Ethics by Design" into data products, ensuring bias mitigation and model explainability.
