At ATB, we exist to make it possible for our clients, team members and communities. Our purpose is more than aspirational. It's a real commitment we live every day through our values (what we call the ATB ID).

Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the role

This position has a hybrid work arrangement. On average, this means 2-3 days on-site per week. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.

As ATB’s next Director, Internal Assurance Professional Practices & Enablement, you will lead a team responsible for the audit methodology, quality, competency development and enablement required to deliver risk-aligned, high-impact audit and advisory engagements. By fostering a culture of collaboration, you will transform existing systems into a scalable, high performance infrastructure.

As a key member of the Internal Assurance (IA) leadership team, you will serve as a strategic partner and the architect of the "IA infrastructure" that enables our team to excel. You will lead the modernization of our methodology, tools, and strategy—aligning them with Global Internal Audit Standards—while championing departmental efficiency through automation and AI.

As a Leader at ATB, you embody our Leader DNA. You are responsible for fostering an inclusive environment, making informed, agile decisions that drive performance, and developing others to reach their full potential. By fostering a culture of teaming and shared success, you will ensure our work isn't just a compliance check, but a high-value service that provides ATB Management and the Board with clear, actionable insights.

Accountabilities

  • Quality & Methodology: Lead the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP) and the continued evolution of audit methodology. Focus on balancing technical clarity with conciseness to ensure it is fit for purpose and align with Global Internal Audit Standards. Drive organizational efficiency by updating the enterprise assurance map to enhance coordination and reliance.

  • Strategic Planning & Performance: Design and manage the IA performance framework, including KPI scorecards and reporting cadences. Translate strategic objectives into an actionable multi-year strategic plan.

  • Culture, Teaming & Capabilities: Conduct capability assessments and coordinate skill development programs. Manage auditor on and offboarding, guest auditor programs, and internal rotations. Direct in-person team events to foster a culture of continuous learning and teaming.

  • Board Reporting & IA Strategy: Lead the design and translate strategic objectives into operating plan initiatives and produce stakeholder‑tailored communication for Board/Executive quarterly and annual reporting.

  • Digital Transformation & AI: Spearhead the migration from manual workflows to a digital Audit Management System. Integrate GenAI into workflows to automate repetitive tasks while maintaining robust "human-in-the-loop" control procedures.

  • Action Plan Oversight: Lead the validation function for management’s remediation efforts, ensuring validation of existing findings is performed in a timely manner, and actively managing progress on open and overdue action plans.

  • Operating Plan & Change Management: Serve as the program lead for the execution of all IA operating plan initiatives—owning the end-to-end project and change management —while monitoring and managing the IA team's change capacity to ensure strategic priorities are met without impacting audit plan completion.
