About the Role
Please note: This is a temporary 12 month term opportunity. This is a hybrid role with a strong preference for candidates based in Calgary. Please note that this is subject to change due to business priorities.
As ATB’s next Portfolio Loan Support, Manager - you will oversee a team of Portfolio Analysts in the Portfolio Loan Support Team in Business Banking. Your focus will be on providing leadership and oversight in the Capital Markets sector of business lending to deliver exceptional client experience and minimize risk. Your team’s objectives will be to deliver efficient and effective support to both teammates and clients. You will evolve how we work as we continue the journey to provide an advisory experience.
As part of the Sales Support Leadership team, you will contribute to the growth and development of the team.
Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Loan Support, this position is critical to directly supporting ATB Business (Business Banking and Capital Markets) sales teams in every stage of lending while also acting as a liaison with Portfolio Support, Business Client Support, Portfolio Management (ADs), Sales, Business Improvement Partners, Finance, Treasury, Business Risk and other areas of the enterprise.

Ensuring that we have an efficient and client obsessed team that leads to unparalleled service. This role requires significant collaboration with internal partners and team mates.
Accountabilities
- Leadership of a team of specialists responsible for critical aspects of the Business Client’s lending journey with ATB. These include, but are not limited to: facility/loan set up; pre disbursement review; fulfillment and maintenance; portfolio management around reporting requirements, oversight, project work; translating complex agreements into book of record tasks using SAP expertise and; ongoing training and flawless execution in the process.
- Achieve performance goals and objectives by planning and managing capacity, improving team member engagement, supporting all applicable enterprise strategic initiatives, and providing great leadership.
- Effectively lead, coach, and mentor a team.
- Assumes primary decision-making, ownership and accountability for processes, projects and oversight while representing a dedicated Business Sector (Capital Markets, Diversified(including OFS), Agriculture, Real Estate or Capital Asset Financing, RM Business Banking).
- Set clear direction by translating how to achieve the enterprise and business strategy with the team.
- Through your subject matter expertise, providing advice and coaching to the team to continually focus on enhancing the partner and client experience while balancing important risk controls.
- Collaborate with other leaders in ATB Business to ensure the delivery of an optimal and consistent client experience.
- Grow and develop the team by providing feedback and coaching for future development; address and remove barriers to performance.
- Motivate the team by recognizing and rewarding them in a way that celebrates the little wins and the big success stories.
- Resolve escalated client or sales team issues through partnership and collaboration with stakeholders to determine the best solution for the client and/or ATB.
- Monitor and assess trends of team processing and system issues to bring forward solutions and influence improvements within Portfolio Loan Support.
- Empowered to drive and own the creation of the necessary supporting training documentation and knowledge sharing material.
- Effectively manage ATB’s risk tolerance for operational, regulatory and credit risk by understanding policy and procedure and providing coaching and guidance with team members, providing personal oversight in certain circumstances.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- 3-5 years of Financial Institution experience including commercial, administrative, or business lending experience.
- Experience in leadership. Proven ability to enable team member success and engagement.
- A post-secondary degree in business, management, or equivalent experience
- Solid knowledge of corporate finance credit products and services.
- Solid knowledge of operational requirements pertinent to managing a portfolio of Business Banking and Capital Market clients.
- Strong communication and translation skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and foster collaboration
- Passionate about leadership with the demonstrated ability to motivate others towards achievement of individual and team goals
- An agile and growth mindset, someone who embraces change and relishes the opportunity to lead their team as we evolve toward executing on the 10 year strategy.
- Problem solving skills and ability to take initiative to find and execute innovative and efficient solutions.
- Excellent priority management with capability to manage multiple projects, initiatives and daily activity to best meet the needs of supporting the client.
- An unequivocal sense of drive and hunger with the ability to operate successfully in an ambiguous environment.
