About the Role

As ATB’s next Relationship Manager (RM) Investment Real Estate, you will work with a team of ATB Business associates and business partners to increase and retain business based on annual growth targets, and increasing the profitability of a specified portfolio of real estate customers. The RM excels at proactively developing new opportunities while retaining and growing existing relationships.

At the heart of it, you are a relationship builder and connector who thrives on supporting the needs of our realestate clients in the province. You aim to become a trusted advisor through consistent support and a genuine desire to understand where our clients are, where they came from and where they are going.

Accountabilities

  • Achieve portfolio targets by expanding existing accounts and aggressively building a pipeline of new loan and deposit opportunities.
  • Leverage deep expertise across industrial, retail, office, and multi-family asset classes to provide tailored financial solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by identifying underutilized products—including cash management, wealth management, and master card—to help clients scale their operations.
  • Enhance the brand’s profile through active participation in industry events, community activities, and professional networking (COIs).
  • Maintain a strong presence with clients and prospects, utilizing both in-person and virtual engagement strategies to build rapport across diverse geographies
  • Oversee the full credit lifecycle, including proactive renewals, managing arrears, and executing debt recovery strategies.
  • Actively manage and convert internal leads while contributing to a collaborative ecosystem by sharing best practices and success stories with the sales team.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to operational, regulatory, and credit risk tolerances to protect the interests of the organization and the client.
  • Address complex customer inquiries and complaints with urgency and professionalism.
  • Embody organizational leadership attributes by mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous development.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in Investment Real Estate lending is required.
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (equivalent professional experience will be considered).
  • Proven track record in generating new business and meeting established growth targets.
  • Experience in analyzing financial data and structuring credit recommendations is required.
  • Leverage deep expertise across CMHC, industrial, retail, office, and multi-family asset classes to provide tailored financial solutions.
  • Advanced relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to navigate complex deal structures.
  • A proactive, inquisitive, and persuasive approach to client engagement, with the confidence to challenge the status quo.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate financial concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in building trust and managing high-value relationships virtually, maintaining a strong presence in communities where you may not be physically based.
  • Natural ability to connect with clients, prospects, and internal associates to foster a collaborative team environment.
