About the role
As ATB’s next Manager, External Reporting, you will play a critical role in the preparation of our quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and related deliverables. You will be well-versed in IFRS and detail-oriented, your ability to build strong relationships will be key to your success as a trusted business partner across the organization. In this role, you will translate complex accounting data into clear, high-level financial insights for key stakeholders, while leveraging data analytics tools to evaluate high-volume datasets, investigate complex end-to-end data flows, and partner with teams across ATB.
Please note: This is a temporary 12 month term opportunity.
Accountabilities
- Act as a subject matter expert on loans and allowance for credit losses disclosures. Interpret complex trends and variances, and drive adjustments required to ensure accurate IFRS compliance and enterprise reporting.
- Assist with preparing financial statements and MD&A that meet auditing and accounting standards within tight deadlines all while maintaining a strong control environment.
- Prepare quarterly and annual commentary on ATB’s financial results for purposes of inclusion in our external and internal reporting.
- Partner closely with Risk Management and Credit teams to evaluate the status of impaired loans, validate related allowances, and ensure alignment between credit risk models and accounting disclosures.
- Utilize advanced data analytics tools (such as BigQuery) to query, evaluate, and extract insights from financial datasets, tracing data flows and provide insightful trend analysis.
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends to help support our regulatory reporting.
Skills, experience & requirements
- University Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required, along with a CPA designation.
- 5 + years of post-designation experience.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of IFRS and reporting requirements.
- High degree of problem solving ability and critical thinking.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficient in utilizing advanced data analytics tools (specifically BigQuery) to execute high volume data analysis.
- Strong team player, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Acute attention to detail with the ability to meet multiple deliverables.
- Ability to think outside the box while providing strong analysis and insight.
- A background with an audit firm or financial institution preferred.
Beneficial/Preferred Experience:
- An understanding of the unique regulatory landscape and reporting requirements inherent to the banking and financial services industry.
- Technical proficiency in tools such as SAP Fiori and Tableau to navigate enterprise data and create impactful financial visualizations.
- Foundational knowledge of SQL and/or Google BigQuery for data extraction and analysis.
