Position Summary | BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.2 FTE) Faculty, Ecological Restoration. BCIT’s BSc program in Ecological Restoration is among North America’s very few programs that specialize in this emerging discipline. This program provides graduates with a world-class foundation in the fundamental science, applied knowledge, and technical skills needed to restore a broad range of degraded ecosystems. The program has been designed to advance the science and practice of ecological restoration. The BSc is a 2-year program (years 3 and 4) and is one of just two Canadian BSc programs in ecological restoration. Students work with our many professional partners on a wide range of applied restoration projects, thereby gaining experience in addressing many current environmental challenges. Graduates have an excellent track record of securing positions with consulting companies, nonprofit organizations, as well as all levels of government including First Nations. |
Duties & Responsibilities | The successful candidate should have a strong foundation in GIS, remote sensing, and environmental science or related field. Candidates should also have strong field skills, knowledge and experience of research/monitoring design, and preferably experience applying knowledge of the physical sciences within an environmental management/ecological restoration context. Experience with any of the following are also advantageous: watershed assessment, terrain and ecosystem mapping, sediment and soil erosion control. |

Salary Range | Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum. |
Additional Salary Information | Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement. |
