Position Summary
Are you a dynamic and energetic individual looking for new challenges? BCIT’s School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) BCGEU Faculty to join the Millwright Group.

We offer the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful city of Vancouver, the opportunity to interact with key drivers in industry, and the satisfaction of sharing your extensive expertise with our students. The department also offers training and support in developing teaching skills. Possession of or willingness to obtain the Provincial Instructors Diploma would be an asset, and is required to reach maximum salary step. Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Programs and Courses that the successful candidate(s) would prepare and deliver include:

  • Full-time Foundation training at an entry level for those wanting to enter the Millwright trade.
  • All four levels of the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprenticeship.
  • Industry Service courses in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Training.
Part-time courses including Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) CQ Refresher and Hydraulics components, circuits and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five years’ recent work experience as a journeyperson in the Millwright field.
  • Millwright BC Trades Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal.
  • Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
  • The ability to teach all aspects of the curriculum is required.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, interpersonal skills and a desire to share knowledge with others.
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and experience using internet and email preferred.
  • High standard of technical excellence.
  • Innovative with a proven track record in the industry.
  • Enjoy teamwork in a dynamic and exciting environment.
  • Preference will be given to those with teaching and curriculum development experience. is an asset.
