Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Mechanical Engineering who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with a broad, practical knowledge of mechanical engineering. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in developing and delivering quality in-class curriculum.
Duties & Responsibilities
The department of Mechanical Engineering at BCIT offers diplomas and an accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering. The primary goal of the programs is to graduate highly-qualified, practical mechanical technologists and engineers who are eligible for professional registration.
Qualifications
Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in a relevant engineering environment.
  • Post-Secondary teaching and/or industry mentorship experience.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong digital literacy skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.

Candidates must have experience in the following areas to apply:
  • Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals
  • Mechanical Design
Experience in the following areas is an asset:
  • Programming (C/C++/Python)
  • Industrial Measurement, Instrumentation, and Control including PLCs
  • Robotics and Automation
  • Mechanical Building Systems

Salary Range Salary range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
