Position Summary
BCIT’s Information Technology Services department is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Senior Systems Analyst to participate in the ERP modernization initiatives. This position plays a key role in ensuring enterprise data is accurate, well defined, and suitable for reporting, analytics, and operational decision making.
Working closely with the Data Governance Committee, the Senior Systems Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining data governance standards.
The Senior Systems Analyst will also contribute to creating scripts in PL/SQL, or MSSQL, as well as building dashboards to support Data Conversion, Data Warehouse, AI initiatives, and helps ensure institutional data is well documented, well governed, and fit for use across the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Governance:
  • Liaise with different subject matter experts and businesses within BCIT to draft data standards.
  • Create and maintain data standards, ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational data policies, and secure approval of new data standards from the Data Governance Committee.
  • Implement data governance frameworks.

Development and Analysis:
  • Perform data analysis using PL/SQL or MSSQL to identify trends, anomalies, and data quality issues.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on data quality issues and gather business logic for remediation.
  • Work with technical and functional teams to ensure proper data lineage, metadata management, and data controls.
  • Participate in data modelling, create PL/SQL or MSSQL scripts and stored procedures that will be used in Data Conversion, new Enterprise Database, and new Data Warehouse.
Dashboard and Reporting:
  • Support TM1 Cognos Analytics for Budget and Forecasting.
  • Support and maintain reports and dashboards in Cognos Analytics and Millennium FAST.
  • Contribute to the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Build scripts and BI dashboards to support AI initiatives.
Data Integration & Analytics Support:
  • Support data preparation, transformation, and reconciliation activities for ERP implementations, upgrades, or migrations.
  • Assist with data loading and validation activities for cloud-based ERP or SaaS environments.
  • Support ETL/ELT processes that integrate enterprise data into analytics platforms, Datawarehouse, or Lakehouse environments.
  • Collaborate with the teams to ensure data is fit for analytical and reporting use.
Documentation & Collaboration:
  • Document data flows, transformations, and business rules to support transparency and sustainability.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two-year diploma in Computer Systems, Data Management, or a related discipline, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, business, or related field; plus a minimum of six (6) years of current, practical experience, of which at least four (4) years must be in a similar role or a closely related data-focused role.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Qualifications Specifics:
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams, and Data Governance Committee.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and deliver presentations in large meetings.
  • Proficiency Oracle PL/SQL or MS SQL, and stored procedures for querying, data manipulation, and analysis in large, complex databases environment
  • Experience in administering. developing and supporting TM1 and Cognos Analytics
  • Solid understanding of data governance principles, data quality, and data lifecycle management
  • Experience in enterprise or corporate data modeling with strong understanding of dimensional modelling, analytical data structures and reporting requirements
  • Experience with data analysis, profiling, and validation techniques
  • Experience designing and executing ETL/ELT processes to support enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with data integration tools, orchestration platforms, or pipelines used in enterprise environments.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience working with a post-secondary ERP, preferably Ellucian Banner ERP, including understanding of core data structures and functional modules.
  • Experience with Ellucian Ethos and Ethos Data Models.
  • Experience supporting Banner SaaS implementations or migrations.
  • Experience working with post-secondary institutional data standards and regulatory reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI or Tableau.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience with data governance or metadata management tools.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar work management tools.
  • Experience working with Oracle or SQL Server database environments.
  • Experience with Cognos Framework Manager/data module

Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
