Position Summary
BCIT’s Business Administration department (within the School of Business + Media) is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.6 FTE) Instructor to teach courses in the area of Business Law (BLAW).
Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking an Instructor committed to quality and innovation in meeting our students’ learning needs, and who values the importance of teamwork in the workplace and has an understanding of business law and the impact AI is having on current issues.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A JD (or LLB equivalent) plus a Master’s Degree (or in progress), in a field related to business law or employment law, or equivalent business law and AI experience (approx. 10 years).
  • Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Current experience involving the application of business law to business process requirements.
  • Ability to work in a collegial environment.
  • Ability to lead other instructors in a team-teaching model.
  • Ability to teach in two or more of the following areas:
    • Canadian Business Law, including the legal and administrative systems, torts, AI, contracts, sale of goods, and consumer protection.
    • BLAW 3100 (Business Law), BLAW 3205 (Internet and AI Law), and BLAW 3905 (Employment Law)
    • BLAW 6100 – Business Law for Managers
    • BLAW 1100 – Introduction to Law for Occupational Health & Safety
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in a post-secondary institution.

Salary Range Salary Range: $65,045 - $113,545 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
