Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.1 FTE) faculty member to support curriculum development and instruction in digital design within the Prosthetics and Orthotics Program.

This position consists of two phases:
  • Curriculum Development (July 6–August 28, 2026) – 3.5 hours per week
  • Instruction (Aug 31-December 18, 2026) – 1.5 hours in-person classroom instruction + 2 hours course organization
The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of a digital design component integrated within PROR 1100, supporting students in developing foundational knowledge and applied skills in digital workflows for prosthetic and orthotic practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop curriculum and learning materials introducing digital design concepts relevant to prosthetics and orthotics, including:
    • 3D scanning and shape capture
    • Digital rectification workflows
    • Prosthetic and orthotic device design (device architecture)
    • Preparation of files for additive manufacturing (3D printing)
  • Design and implement hands-on learning activities and assessments that build student competency in:
    • iPad-based scanning
    • Digital modeling and modification
    • Device design and preparation for fabrication
  • Provide instruction and student support in software platforms, including but not limited to:
    • Autodesk Fusion 360
    • Nomad Sculpt
  • Integrate digital design workflows with existing course deliverables, including application to the design and fabrication of a prosthetic or orthotic device for volunteer patient models
  • Deliver classroom and/or lab instruction in alignment with program standards
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with program faculty to ensure alignment with existing curriculum and clinical competencies
  • Participate in program meetings and contribute to ongoing curriculum development initiatives
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field such as industrial design, engineering, biomedical engineering, digital fabrication, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital design and fabrication workflows, including:
    • 3D scanning technologies
    • CAD/modeling software (e.g., Fusion 360 or equivalent)
    • Sculpting/modification tools (e.g., Nomad Sculpt or similar)
    • Additive manufacturing (3D printing) processes and file preparation
  • Experience teaching, training, or developing instructional materials in a technical or applied setting
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts into practical, hands-on learning experiences
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Experience working in a healthcare, prosthetics, orthotics, or rehabilitation-related field
  • Familiarity with digital health technologies or clinical applications of 3D design

Salary Range Salary Range: $66,996 - $116,951 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
