| Position Summary | BCIT’s School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.3 FTE) Faculty, Ecological Restoration. This position entails teaching three courses in our BSc and MSc programs: RENR 7008: Indigenous Perspectives in the Natural Resources (3 credits) in the BSc program. ECOR 9140: Indigenous and Social Perspectives on Ecological Restoration I (1.5 credits) in the MSc program. The Ecological Restoration programs provide undergraduates and graduates with a strong foundation in the methods available to restore a broad range of ecosystems that have been impacted by human influences in British Columbia, across Canada, and in other parts of the world. Ecological Restoration graduates will not only bring skills and expertise to current employers but will also be leaders and innovators in this rapidly developing industry. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | This temporary position will teach in both the Master of Science (MSc) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) Ecological Restoration programs. The MSc course, Indigenous and Social Perspectives on Ecological Restoration I and II, is taught over both the fall and winter terms and is taught as a 1.5-hour lecture per week over 15 weeks per term (ECOR 9140 in the fall term and ECOR 9240 in the winter term). The BSc course, Indigenous Perspectives in Natural Resource Management (RENR 7008) is taught in the fall term, 3 hours per week over 15 weeks. The preferred method of course delivery is in-person, but remote delivery may be considered based on the applicant’s qualifications and availability. These courses provide a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives and cultural differences, as well as training on steps and approaches to building successful collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and government partners. The course material has been developed and is available for the instructor to use and adapt to fit individual knowledge and experience.
