Position Summary
BCIT’s Academic and Research Partnerships is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Academic and Research Funding Coordinator. This position provides administrative and operational support on assigned academic innovation and applied research funding projects by analyzing, collecting, and maintaining information and systems to facilitate the tracking and the communication of funding opportunities within the internal BCIT community. Provides support for proposal, grant writing, and compliance monitoring of projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the team through compiling and preparing information and material for academic innovation and applied research projects.
  • Supports analysis and research on potential funding opportunities for assigned projects.
  • Creates and maintains an online calendar of funding opportunities.
  • Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvements of databases required for funding opportunity tracking, submission, monitoring and reporting.
  • Provides user requirements and inputs on improvements and changes to the systems and databases.
  • Participates in data definitions and system set up/changes for unified information flows and structures.
  • Utilizes various software and databases to research and analyze information; prepares presentations and provides findings to the Director on information gathered.
  • Drafts and compiles materials for written reports and presentations.
  • Provides input to the Director to support recommendations to Senior Leadership team on prepared material, information and proposals.
  • Completes assigned administration and support tasks to assist with preparation of grant reports.
  • Communicates with internal partners across the Institute to request and provide project related information.
  • Liaises with external partners/funders to share approved reporting materials and respond to requests connected to project activities.
  • Provides administrative supports for the team by coordinating meetings and activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking and distributing minutes and following up on action items.
  • Assists in coordinating, auditing, validating, and reporting of survey data.
  • Creates, revises, and maintains a repository of technical documentation connected to proposal/application development, active projects, and compliance reporting.
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP).
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications represent the minimum qualifications required in the future (i.e. to be reflected in job postings) and do not reflect the incumbent’s existing qualifications.

Education:
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. communications, economics, education, sociology, management science, computing, or accounting).

Experience:
  • Two years general experience plus four years experience in a technical communications or research analyst role.

Software Computer Application(s) and Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, included but not limited to experience in logical and mathematical formula writing, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of CRM/ERP systems (e.g. Salesforce) considered an asset.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a culturally and technically diverse audience, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including experience preparing, synthesizing, and writing reports for a wide audience.
  • Proven ability to produce high quality reports.
  • Strong presentation preparation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team.

Administrative Skills:
  • Results-oriented with proven analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously and handle changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.

Other Skills Abilities:
  • Acute attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.

Salary Range Salary Grade 9: $66,284 - $71,964 per annum.
Additional Salary Information
External hires are initially placed at the minimum of the salary range with set progressions to the maximum as per the Collective Agreement. Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment.
