Position Description:

We are Canada's largest independent information technology services firm, and after 45 years, we're still growing! Join us as a "Mainframe Developer".

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at Markham for minimum 2-3 days per week - subject to change at any time.

We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer with extensive experience in the insurance industry to support our legacy Management Information System (MIS). The successful candidate will work closely with our downstream regulatory reporting team to ensure accurate and timely reporting to industry regulators. This role requires proficiency in COBOL and Informatica, as well as a deep understanding of the N0110 (Premium Feed) and N0130 (Claims Feed) batch processes. Your contributions will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our regulatory reporting.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance the legacy MIS to support regulatory reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with the regulatory reporting team to understand and implement reporting needs.
• Develop, test, and deploy COBOL programs to process insurance data feeds (N0110 and N0130).
• Utilize Informatica for data integration and transformation tasks.
• Monitor and troubleshoot batch processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Document system changes and provide technical support to end-users.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in mainframe development and regulatory reporting.
• Contribute to the research, analysis, and evaluation of new technologies, products, or solutions to support the development of innovative strategies.
• Assist with the implementation of technology development processes, working closely with the team to identify, assess, and manage technology development needs across in-scope business areas.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mainframe development within the insurance industry.
• Proficiency in COBOL and Informatica.
• Strong understanding of insurance data feeds, specifically N0110 (Premium Feed) and N0130 (Claims Feed).
• Experience with batch processing and job scheduling.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements in the insurance industry is a plus.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with other mainframe technologies and tools.
• Knowledge of SQL and database management.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
