CGI has an immediate need for a Senior Data Scientist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest leaders in the secondary mortgage industry. • This position is located at a client site in Reston, VA or Plano, TX. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Data Scientist with a strong academic background (PhD or Master's) in Computer Science, Technology, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. This role is ideal for someone passionate about solving complex problems using advanced analytics, time series modeling, anomaly detection, and generative AI technologies. You will work on cutting-edge projects involving large-scale data, cloud-native AI solutions, and next-generation machine learning models. Your work will directly influence strategic decisions and product innovation across the organization.​

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Design, develop, and deploy time series forecasting models and anomaly detection systems for mission-critical applications.
• Build and fine-tune Generative AI models (e.g., Claude, GPT, open-source LLMs) on AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Analyze and model large-scale structured and unstructured datasets using distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask, Ray).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and business stakeholders to translate data insights into strategic actions.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, feature stores, and model monitoring systems to ensure robust and scalable ML solutions.
• Stay current with the latest research in AI/ML and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and innovation.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI roles.
• Strong expertise in time series analysis, anomaly detection, and forecasting techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI models (e.g., Claude, GPT, LLaMA) and prompt engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Prophet, etc.
• Experience working with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, AWS EMR, Redshift, Snowflake).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and MLOps tools (e.g., SageMaker, MLflow, Airflow).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Desired Skillset

• Experience with causal inference, Bayesian modeling, or reinforcement learning.
• Publications or contributions to open-source projects in AI/ML.
• Experience with LLM fine-tuning, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Knowledge of data privacy, model fairness, and ethical AI practices.

Education:
PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $75,600.00 - $186,000.00
