Senior UI/UX Designer

Position Description:
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto (250 Yonge St, Toronto) and/or Client office at a minimum 5 days per month - subject to change at any time.
About the Role
As a Senior UI/UX Designer at CGI, you will play a key role in designing modern, user-centered applications for investment and banking platforms. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across industries—insurance, health, federal government, and more. Your role will include both high-level strategic thinking and detailed interface design. You will also contribute significantly to the evolution and governance of our Design System, while working closely with developers using frameworks such as Angular, React, and Vue.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Lead design initiatives for complex web and mobile applications from ideation through execution.
• Collaborate with developers and architects to ensure UI designs are technically feasible and implemented as intended.
• Translate functional and business requirements into intuitive user experiences and visual designs.
• Create UX artifacts such as process flows, sitemaps, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes.
• Conduct user research, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing to validate design solutions.
• Present and defend design decisions to key stakeholders and integrate feedback into iterations.
• Contribute to and evolve a robust, scalable Design System, including reusable components, design tokens, and documentation.
• Advocate for accessibility, responsive design, and WCAG standards throughout the design process.
• Mentor junior designers, provide feedback, and ensure design consistency across platforms and teams.
• Promote UX and UI best practices across the organization and contribute to elevating the design culture.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design with a portfolio of enterprise-level digital products.
Skills:
• Proficiency in tools like Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe XD, and Creative Suite.
• Deep understanding of interaction design, responsive layouts, and accessibility standards.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining a Design System and working with component-based UI libraries.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and design-dev collaboration tools.
Soft Skills:
• Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate design decisions.
• Excellent collaboration with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and stakeholders.
• Thoughtful leadership and feedback delivery in a team environment.
• User-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in financial services, SaaS, or enterprise applications.
• Experience working in agile product development cycles.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field.
