Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto (250 Yonge St, Toronto) and/or Client office.


Design, develop, configure and test systems and their integrations to meet stated requirements. This can be done either through lower-level software development (writing code) or by higher-level software customization (configuration). The role requires the ability to analyze detailed business and technical specifications and proposals and convert them into functionality (software). More senior software engineers focus on how to design, integrate, and manage complex systems over their life cycles.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, document, test and debug larger and complex applications software and systems
• Recommend/design structure and tools for systems which meet business needs
• Work closely with the client and business analyst to ensure business and technical needs are met and additional needs are identified
• Apply concepts and best practices for designing, coding, testing and implementing application software that is delivered on time and within budget
• Document, evaluate and propose architecture and design alternatives
• Validate design proposals for new solutions and technical reviews of existing systems
• Define, analyze and validate system architecture, requirements and design
• Evaluate changes and perform impact analysis
• Employ strong communication and presentation skills in client and business support
• Perform autonomously in client engagements and identify additional opportunities
• Mentor and assist in training less experienced technical staff
• Able to act as team lead on projects
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborates with any engineers involved, in planning, design, development, utilization of electronic data processing systems for software
• Determine user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
• Ensure coding, security and architectural software standards are met
• Keep track of emerging technologies and developments

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Competence in and understanding coding best practices, clean code, code review and similar

• Design, build and assure quality of applications
• Specify system behaviour in software components based on requirements
• Demonstrated understanding of current trends in software development and architecture and integration in other systems (eg. Cloud, Automation, APIs, DevOps, Mobile)
• Secure Software Development:
• Ensure application and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability by developing software having security built in.
• Database Engineering, development of CRUD procedures and functions.
• Development Certifications- Commercial (JAVA, Microsoft, etc.), Open source products
• Cloud certification- e.g. Azure, Google Cloud, AWS – Amazon
• RCDA
• Agile certification, eg.certified SAFe Agile Software engineer, Professional Scrum Developer
• Security certification- MIET - Member of IET, ISC2 CSSLP - www.isc2.org"
• Resources to implement Kyvos reporting: Financial reporting background, preferably with MDX coding experience, strong PowerBI skills
• Communication (Oral/Written), .NET, ASP.NET, Oracle, SQL, SQL/PL SQL, PowerShell and SharePoint, Spring, Web Services, XML
