Position Description:
We are Canada's largest independent information technology services firm, and after 45 years, we're still growing! Join Canada's largest IT Company as a "Senior Java Developer" in our Banking Services Division.
Location - Downtown Toronto (Hybrid - 3 days office and rest remote)
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Design and develop RESTful APIs using Spring Boot with strong focus on security, error handling, and logging.
• Build clean, maintainable data access layers using SQL and relational database principles.
• Collaborate with front-end teams to ensure seamless SPA integration and API communication.
• Write clean, readable, and easily modifiable code, reducing complexity and avoiding unnecessary special cases.
• Make strategic design decisions prioritizing long-term simplicity and maintainability.
• Communicate design intent clearly and collaborate effectively with teammates.
• Ensure robust testing, documentation, and observability for APIs and services.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of RESTful API design principles, favoring simple, predictable, and easy-to-use interfaces
• Posses deep expertise in building RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, including security, error handing, and logging.
• Has a solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts, with an ability to create clear, maintainable data access layers that hide underlying complexity.
• Show foundational knowledge of Single Page Application architecture and how to communicate with the back-end API
• Write code that is clean, readable and easy to modify, focusing on reducing complexity and avoiding unnecessary special cases
• Think strategically about software design, prioritizing long-term simplicity and maintainability over short-term tactical fixes.
• Communicates design intent clearly and collaborates effectively with teammates.
