Helcim is searching for a talented and passionate Credit Risk Analyst to join us on our mission to become the world’s most loved payments company.

As our Credit Risk Analyst, you will serve as the operational heartbeat of our risk team, directly managing the credit exposure associated with both new merchant onboarding and the ongoing monitoring of our established portfolio. This is a hands-on role where you will perform detailed underwriting, execute batch reviews, and proactively manage portfolio health. This doesn’t mean you are stuck in the weeds, we want someone with the insight to recognize where we can do better.

Your challenge is to balance rigorous daily execution with continuous process improvement. While your primary focus will be on making high-quality credit decisions and managing rolling reviews, you will also play a key role in identifying bottlenecks and refining our operational guidelines to make our credit adjudication sharper and more efficient.

You won’t just be looking at numbers; you will communicate directly with merchants to understand their stories, clarify financials, and structure credit terms that allow them to grow while keeping Helcim safe. You will meld your commercial credit expertise with real-world problem solving, collaborating with our Trust and Safety team to run a seamless, precise financial risk mitigation program that scales with us.

  • Perform end-to-end credit analysis for new and existing merchants by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and corporate registrations.

  • Execute routine batch reviews and rolling underwriting to actively monitor portfolio trends and mitigate exposure risks.

  • Communicate directly with business owners to gather documentation, clarify financial positions, and explain credit decisions.

  • Collaborate with the Trust & Safety team on daily risk operations to manage complex cases.

  • Identify workflow bottlenecks and iterate on our credit guidelines to ensure adjudication remains efficient and scalable.

  • Partner with Data, Product, and Engineering teams to provide feedback that drives improvements in our risk tools and decisioning systems.

  • You're a strategic and empathetic problem-solver with a passion for using data to make informed decisions. You understand that behind every transaction is a human story.

  • You are a strategic operator who executes risk strategies with precision while honoring the human story behind every business.

  • You are a confident communicator who handles difficult merchant conversations regarding credit decisions with empathy and professionalism.

  • You are an adaptable, proactive thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and navigates ambiguity with ease.

  • You are curious about financial trends and skilled at applying that knowledge to inform our operational guidelines.

  • You are a systems thinker capable of identifying workflow gaps and collaborating with Trust & Safety to close them.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.

  • Strong proficiency in analyzing financial statements and understanding business models across various industries.

  • Solid foundation in commercial credit principles with a track record of making data-backed decisions.

  • Technical aptitude with a familiarity or willingness to learn SQL to independently query data and build reports for analysis.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to distill complex financial concepts into simple explanations.

  • High degree of organization and detail to manage batch reviews and deadlines accurately.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Knowledge or experience in the payments industry. We believe that if you have a strong background in credit, we can teach you the rest!

  • A relevant certification such as CFA or FRM (or are actively pursuing one).
