In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Technical Lead – AWS, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of secure, scalable cloud solutions for IBM’s public-sector clients. You will combine strong hands-on AWS engineering expertise with technical leadership, working closely with clients and delivery teams to understand complex requirements and translate them into practical technology solutions.

You will bring experience of person-centric data platforms and AWS-based infrastructure, helping to shape architectures that are secure, resilient and capable of supporting critical public-sector services. You will act as a trusted technical point of contact for clients, confidently communicating complex technical concepts, contributing to solution design and providing technical direction throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of AWS-based solutions.
  • Develop and support person-centric data platforms on AWS.
  • Work closely with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements.
  • Provide technical direction to development and engineering teams.
  • Contribute to solution and cloud architecture decisions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Promote secure, scalable and high-quality engineering practices.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Proven experience designing and developing person-centric data platforms on AWS.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Experience contributing to solution architecture and technical design.
  • Ability to liaise confidently with clients, understand requirements and communicate technical solutions.
  • Strong software development and cloud engineering background.
  • Experience working in secure, complex or regulated environments.
  • SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain SC Clearance.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Experience working on public-sector, government or other regulated projects.
  • Knowledge of AWS data, analytics and integration services.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Understanding of cloud security, IAM and data protection principles.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery teams and multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Exposure to solution architecture and technical governance.
  • Experience mentoring developers or engineers and providing technical leadership.
