Your role and responsibilities
IBM Federal Consulting is seeking a strong Technical Manager that can lead delivery for our mainframe as a service offering and delivery to clients that provides a holistic, modernized hybrid, security rich, robust multi-cloud ecosystem, and empowers and enables our clients' critical core missions. This position is focused on delivering client outcomes through oversight of a broad range of delivery projects to fulfill the client expectations for Mainframe hardware and software infrastructure and support. This individual will be responsible for managing the teams that administer multiple Mainframes running on z/OS systems, using various technologies like z/OS operating systems, Configuration, Host Network, Automation, Console/Batch Monitoring, Scheduling, DB2, IMS, CICS, Storage, etc.

Candidate may demonstrate the following for this role:

- As the technical project manager, you will understand the Mainframe environment sufficiently to manage issues to resolution as well as to solution new business opportunities

- Ability to anticipate client expectations and incorporate needs proactively into client roadmaps

- Be a skilled communicator that can influence internal and external stakeholders at multiple levels

- Ability to navigate complex technical topics and communicate them with clarity, brevity, and impact

- Breath of experiences to lead an organization through cross-functional and collaborative efforts, including partnering with solutioning and sales to shape new opportunities and presales efforts

- Business acumen, ability to build relationships, and strategic mindset to drive the team to successful outcomes, including building, developing, nurturing, and sustaining relationships with third-party partners such as Kyndryl

- Be an engaged and motivated leader who sees the value in our team members and can coach, mentor and leverage our talent management processes to effectively lead the team, building talent and creating a highly engaged team.

Candidate will be accountable for: (a) owning overall technical offering, (b) technical viability/deliverability, (c) applying design to cost practices and architecture principles for decisions, functional decomposition, sizing and nonfunctional requirements, and sound/creative implementation approaches to meet client needs, including awareness / applied reuse of existing client enterprise technologies/practices

Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise

• 5+ years of experience in diverse mainframe technical environments

• 5+ years of experience in one or more mainframe infrastructure, hardware, system programming technologies and/or application development

• 10+ years of experience leading complex projects and programs

• Demonstrated ability to create architecture artifacts, design documents, and other formal documentation

• Able to manage up, down and across organizations, clients and/or functions

• Possess communication skills to appropriately lead at the client/team/business unit levels

• Excellent technical leadership, oral and written communication skills

• Excellent client facing skills (the ability to clearly articulate the value and rationale of the proposed solution in written, presentation and oral formats)

Preferred technical and professional experience

• 5+ years of proven experience in large scale technical delivery

• 5+ years of experience leading technical teams

• PMP® Certification

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

• Hyperscaler certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
