Client Relationships Intern

By supporting the Client team with both internal and external partnerships, this role will help develop an understanding of the payments industry and Interac's product offerings that are utilized across the country supporting all Canadians with their transactions in a digital economy. The candidate will be working with a diverse team which has a variety of industry experience. Accountabilities include research and reporting on specific client issues, client data, and trends. This research and analysis will support the client team on their QBRs and driving volumes and revenue.

Additionally, supporting the client team with tracking and resolving ad hoc research requests from both internal and external partners. Finally, attending meetings with the ability to take notes and capture ideas to share with the team. The goal of this individual will be to assist in the day-to-day activities of the team as well as learn skills such as negotiation, critical thinking, presentation building and turning data into actionable strategies.This role is to help and support the team, but also to learn and gain transferable knowledge which the candidate will be able to apply to future roles in their career.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining positive business relationships, ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction, while balancing the needs and interests of the organization – you’ll have an opportunity to create custom solutions to their unique needs

  • Researching and reporting of specific issues, technologies, regulations, trends, and the competitive landscape in the payments industry to help identify threats and opportunities – this research will assist the client team with compiling client QBRs and other key client deliverables

  • Identifying industry trends by researching and analyzing applicable client and market data.

  • Assisting in transforming client feedback into actionable deliverables to Interac’s product teams and internal stakeholders

  • Providing continuous support and coordination of key activities and initiatives through consultation with cross-functional internal stakeholders

  • Attending meetings with the ability to take notes and capture ideas to share with the team

  • Supporting the client team with tracking and resolving ad hoc research requests from both internal and external partners.

  • Conducting special projects and performing additional duties, as assigned to help achieve departmental objectives

You bring:

  • Currently completing an undergraduate degree from a creditable Canadian institution with a focus on Business, Economics, or a similar program (the program would be based on the job itself - if tech then a tech program so that would be for the hiring manager to identify the program).

  • Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills. You are able to articulate your complex concepts succinctly in a clear, concise manner. You would consider yourself a great storyteller

  • Relationship-building and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop trust and confidence, work effectively and collaborative with individuals across multiple functions and levels – you are client focused, customer driven and work well under pressure

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Power BI, MS Teams) with preference for working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

  • Understanding that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your analytical skills help you to interpret data and inform your decision making

  • Excellent research skills and resourcefulness, with the ability to seek out answers to questions and problems solve in a timely manner.

  • Understanding and willingness to learn the payments, fintech, or financial services industry.

  • You are a proactive problem-solver with a demonstrated track record being able to identify issues as they arise and can triage accordingly

  • Comfortable with learning and working effectively either independently or with groups across different functions and levels – are you committed to customer service

  • Proven time management and organization skills. You are able to prioritize and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines

  • A passionate and driven individual, and adept to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, while leveraging your exceptional research, analytical and communication skills to synthesize and relay information in a meaningful and impactful way

  • Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:

    • Coordinating internal and/or external stakeholder groups.

    • Working with a CRM platform (Salesforce), Tableau, Medallia and/or similar data management tool is an asset

    • Previous customer experience, account management, or sales experience an asset
      Detail-oriented and organized

    • Flexible, adaptable

    • Experience building client facing presentations which include process flows, data visualization, and clearly communicate a product value proposition – you’re able to present complex concept and large data into a clear, concise and informational way

    • Ability to think outside the box and propose creative ideas

    • Graphic design experience

Workstyle: Hybrid

Location: Toronto

Term: January to April 2025

Duration: Monday - Friday
