Risk Specialist Intern

At Interac, we design and deliver products and solutions that give Canadians control over their money so they can get more out of life. But that’s not all. Whether we’re leading real-time money movement, driving innovative commerce solutions like open payments for transit systems, or making advancements in new areas like verification and open banking, we are playing a key role in shaping the future of the digital economy in Canada.

Want to make a lasting impact amongst a community of creative thinkers, problem solvers, technical gurus and high-performance application developers? We want to hear from you.

This is not your typical risk management internship.

We are looking for a data-savvy, design-minded intern to help us reimagine how risk is communicated and operationalized across the business. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and business design, helping us build the next generation of risk dashboards, reporting systems, and workflow tools. You’ll collaborate directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to bring clarity, structure, and insight to complex risk data, turning it into something people actually want to use

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Design and build dashboards that bring risk data to life—enabling smarter, faster decisions across the organization.

  • Prototype and iterate on reporting templates and visualizations using tools like Power BI or Tableau.

  • Map and streamline workflows to clarify ownership and show how risk moves through the business.

  • Document and improve processes that support accountability, transparency, and operational resilience.

  • Collaborate across teams, including business lines, corporate functions, product, technology, data, and compliance to understand risk reporting needs and elevate them into integrated, scalable systems.

  • Support the evolution of enterprise risk reporting tools, helping to modernize how risk is visualized, communicated, and embedded across the organization.

You bring:

  • Your currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field at a recognized Canadian institution.

  • You have a strong analytical mindset and can translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

  • You’re fluent in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and comfortable navigating shared platforms like SharePoint and Teams.

  • You have hands-on experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

  • You bring attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work through ambiguity.

  • You’re comfortable working independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities with confidence and focus.

  • You’re curious about how organizations manage risk and how data, design, and systems thinking can make it better.

  • You’re confident engaging with stakeholders and understanding how their work connects to broader business processes.

  • You’re disciplined, organized, and thrive in environments where deadlines and quality both matter

  • You bring attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to work through ambiguity

  • You’re disciplined, organized, and thrive in environments where deadlines and quality both matter.

  • You build trust easily and enjoy working with people across different teams and levels

  • Bonus: An engineering background or experience with risk, compliance, or process design is a plus—but not essential.

Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Location: Toronto
Term: September to December 2025
Duration: Monday – Friday
