Who You Will Work With:

The vacant SOC Analyst, Tier II role will report to the Leader, Security Incident Management.

Location: Ottawa, ON and Toronto, ON

What You Will Do:

  • Investigating potential security incidents.

  • Coordinating escalations to appropriate support teams to ensure timely incident resolution.

  • Performing technical troubleshooting and security analysis of incidents.

  • Identifying and performing threat containment and eradication actions.

  • Maintaining intrusion detection system configuration.

  • Performing tuning of SIEM filters and event correlations to ensure continuous monitoring improvements.

  • Contributing to continuous vulnerability management scans (CVMS) of the infrastructure.

  • Contributing to the analysis and reporting on the findings of the CVMS in support of the vulnerability management program.

  • Performing threat hunting activities.

  • Developing and maintaining effective and efficient SOC standard operating procedures.

  • Maintaining awareness of evolving threats, trends, and technologies.

  • Performing knowledge sharing with other members of the team.

  • Assisting in information security risk assessment activities.

  • Performing security investigations, training and awareness exercises.

  • Other related tasks as required.

What You Bring:

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

  • Graduation with a degree from a post-secondary educational program with specialization in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline; or

  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience within the last five years, directly related to the functions of this role; and

  • GIAC GFACT / GCIH / GDAT, CompTIA CySA+ / PenTest+, (ISC)2 SSCP / CCSP or other comparable advanced cyber security certification would be an asset.

  • Holder of a Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance or eligible to obtain one

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Strong investigative skills and mindset.

  • Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and write concisely and clearly.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

  • Willing to work alternative work hours (not shift work).

  • Willing to participate in a 24x7x365 on call support rotation.

  • Familiarity with ITIL is an asset.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge in the following areas: security information and event management (SIEM) platforms, intrusion detection system technology, APT tools, tactics and techniques.

  • Demonstrated and strong knowledge of security and network devices, both physical and virtual technologies e.g., IDS, firewalls, and VPN.

  • Excellent understanding of networking protocols and TCP/IP.

  • Demonstrated and strong knowledge of information systems hardening i.e., operating systems, network devices, and application security.

  • Knowledge of incident response methodologies e.g., NIST, CISA, CCCS.

  • GIAC GFACT / GCIH / GDAT, CompTIA CySA+ / PenTest+, (ISC)2 SSCP / CCSP or other comparable advanced cyber security certification would be an asset.

What We’re Offering:

The hiring range for this position is $72,000 - $85,000, and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
