Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. ​​Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Integration pillars of Microsoft Fabric.​

​​The Fabric Warehouse team is hiring a Principal Product Manager to drive Workload Management functionality within the Fabric Warehouse Engine team.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with data engineering and/or database technology.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the vision and strategy for the Fabric Warehouse's Workload Management story
  • Work with stakeholders such as customers, partners, engineering teams to define and drive product roadmap
  • Engage regularly with customers through a variety of forums such as conferences, community events, forums and meetings to understand customer pain points, usage patterns and feedback
  • Proficient in Kusto Query language (KQL), telemetry analysis to understand usage patterns and identify issues
  • Drive customer research, listen to customer feedback, and use data to deeply understand needs and pain points for both end-users and admins.
  • Author detailed specifications, user stories, and prioritization frameworks that guide engineering investment.
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, marketing, field, customer support, partners and various product teams to ensure successful product development and launch
  • Define, drive and analyze key performance metrics such as usage, engagement and make data-driven decisions to improve product and deliver success.
