Overview
The Global Business Program Manager - Intern Program role sits within the Microsoft Intern Program team within Early in Profession (EiP), a part of the Microsoft Global Talent Acquisition (GTA) organization. The Business Program Manager is responsible for the evolution, management, and execution of two early in career internship programs, Discovery (high school) and Explore (early in college) leading the strategy, operational processes, and programmatic deliverables for both programs and partnering heavily with recruiters in EiP to ensure year over year success.
Additionally, this person is also responsible for the program management of Global Intern Celebration and Hackathon Event, leading a global event team in the planning, design, and production of the Intern Program’s largest event of the year, driving connection between 3000+ interns while supporting learning and development efforts.
You should be comfortable working within a highly matrix-driven organization, exhibit organizational, communication, judgement, and analytical skills with a customer and compliance focus.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 2+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in program management in a highly matrixed organization.
Additional or Preferred qualifications
- 1+ years of experience working with adult learners in a corporate or educational setting.
- 1+ years of recruiting experience.
Business Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.

Responsibilities
Business Program Evaluation and Improvement
- With minimal guidance, utilizes direction and strategy from leadership regarding business area of expertise in order to execute plans that shift current priorities to new organizational initiatives and objectives, and influences others to change behavior accordingly with minimal guidance. Help define vision and strategy for change, broad and specific impact, and the flow of communication to the organization. Ensure buy in and adoption of the new program or change by others in the organization. Develop the collateral required to enable key stakeholders and others to be on-board. Contribute to the training, re-skilling, and mapping of individuals in partnership with Human Resources (HR).
- Independently collect and evaluate success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Key Performance Indicators [KPIs], such as acquisition, usage, impact, effectiveness, customer feedback) using scorecards and dashboards to monitor programs and ensure all activities align with business and program objectives. Collaborate with others to use data analytics (e.g., scenario analyses) to derive insights and training that help identify program risks and mitigation plans, as well as opportunities to streamline and optimize programs based on lessons learned.
- Collaborate with others to conduct cost-benefit analyses to examine performance to value drivers (e.g., profit and loss [P&L], return on investment [ROI]). Begins to contribute to monthly business review (MBR), and begins to run rhythms regularly to identify what is working and what is not and helps make improvements accordingly.
Business Program Excellence and Execution
- Work with others to evangelize programs to stakeholders, partners, and customers to gain buy in. Leverage data and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Key Performance Indicators [KPIs]) to demonstrate the value of the program and show business impact, with minimal guidance. Adapt communication style and storytelling strategy according to audience and business needs.
- Collaborate to define and execute on a landing and communication plan, such as the target audience(s) and communication strategy. Maintain the rhythm of business (ROB) during plan execution to ensure participants and stakeholders are communicating and responding according to the necessary cadence. Independently work across teams (e.g., Landing, Design, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Technical Program Management) to ensure all program requirements are understood and can be met.
Business Program Management
- Assist others who overlook a portfolio of projects including the project plan, time-lines, milestones, financial management, performance metrics, and/or resource needs for programs. Communicate the program status to relevant stakeholders and holds them accountable for following the established schedule, risk mitigation plans and processes, with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrate an understanding of mapping or how systems work and impact one another. Collaborate with others who work with other teams (e.g., Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales) to ensure program processes are rigorous and executed efficiently. Help develop processes around scope and scheduled changes for programs, and communicate it to stakeholders.
Business Program Planning and Design
- Work with cross-functional (e.g., organizational, product, business) stakeholders (e.g., Engineering) to design programs from initiation to delivery, with guidance. Collaborate to produce collateral (e.g., proposals, strategy walking deck, internal and external pitch content) to incorporate stakeholder needs and ensure the business objectives are met.
- Support and contribute to define and tracks the success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs] and Key Performance Indicators [KPIs], such as quality, adoption, usage, impact, effectiveness) for the program.
- Identify internal opportunities to develop new programs and improve current ones, with minimal guidance. Collaborate with others to identify root problems (e.g., root-cause analysis), define the program strategy, gather program requirements, identify resource needs, create the project plan and targets, and work across teams to align on the plan of record. Begin to improve operations of existing programs by applying industry methodology, defining program issues, assessing various scenarios, and selecting the optimal scenario to resolve issues. Drive clarity in program issues and strives for simplification.
- Support and contribute to performing program landscape research and analysis (e.g., internal and/or external market, sales, delivery), forecasting, and examining business trends (e.g., customer feedback and expectations) to identify audience size and program scope, stay current, agile, and competitive. Collaborate with others to understand overall business goals, objectives, and strategies, as well as short-and long-term business priorities. Understand and identify current program risks, impact, and mitigation plans, in collaboration with others.
