The main goal of Cloud & AI Solution Data Engineer is to win the technical decision of customers to purchase and use our technology.

The Cloud & AI Solution Data Engineer is expected to be able to both own and win customers’ technical decisions, as well as find new opportunities through their contacts and engagements for sales specialists to pursue. You work within a virtual team of technical, partner, and consulting resources to help educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision — allowing the team to achieve/exceed quarterly sales targets in your accounts.

Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based technologies.

  • Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solutions and projects.

  • The ability to influence and build relationships across technical and business teams.

  • Demonstrates executive presence, presentation skills, deep technical product demo abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Works cohesively with customers, the Microsoft account team, and Microsoft partners.

  • Helps others succeed by identifying and promoting innovative solutions and strategies.

  • Experience in creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for customers that lead to production deployments.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with: Microsoft Fabric Data Platform, data warehousing (DW), real-time intelligence solutions, business intelligence (BI) tools, Microsoft Purview, and Azure databases such as SQL Database, Cosmos DB, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with on-premises enterprise data warehouse (EDW) appliance such as: Teradata, Netezza, or Exadata, and experience with Hadoop or BI migration and Azure Databricks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of core Azure workloads (compute, storage, networking, identity, databases, and monitoring) and the ability to compare across equivalent cloud services.
  • Experience in creating Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for customers that lead to production deployments.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
  • Certification in relevant technologies or disciplines
    • Azure Certifications: DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer Associate or DP-420 Azure Cosmos DB Developer or DP-203 Azure Data Engineer Associate or DP-300 Azure Database Administrator Associate.

Cloud & AI Solution Data Engineer: IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical sales with customers’ technical decision makers (TDMs) leveraging processes and tools, demos, programs, offers, and drive proof of concepts (POCs) using consultative sales methodology and technical expertise across other Solution Engineers to influence the customer vision.

  • Build trusted advisor relationship with customers’ technical decision makers (TDMs and TDM-1) and use proactive effort to find and understand customers’ pain points and work together with customers to co-develop secure & resilient solution architecture for production scale delivery using Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) best practices including Unified Support and Cloud Migration Factory (CMF) offer for every opportunity.

  • Overcome competitors and technical objections and manage customer escalation with Global Black Belt and engineering team to share insights and best practices for product improvements.

  • Critical to maintain and grow expertise in Fabric Data Platform, DW, real-time intelligence, BI, Purview and Azure Databases: SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL.

  • Important to maintain and grow expertise in on-prem EDW appliance (Teradata, Netezza, Exadata), Hadoop & BI migration, and Azure Databricks.

  • Keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights; collaborate and share with the Database & Analytics technical community.
