In Microsoft Security UX, we are a team of UX professionals spanning Product Design, UX Research, Content Design, and UX Engineering. We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to help bring the next generation of AI led security platform capabilities to ISV (Independent Software Vendor) customers and to Microsoft’s first party portfolio of security, compliance, identity, and IT management products. In this role you will have the opportunity to shape the next evolution of Security + AI from the ground up.

You should be able to conceptualize the big picture, have a clear understanding of Enterprise Security, AI and its capabilities, and thrive on solving complex challenges—from information architecture to interaction design to high-fidelity execution. You should have a proven record of innovative and strategic thinking, a history of using design to drive new ideas, and the ability to collect feedback from stakeholders and the design team to make the right design decisions. In this role, you will work with other designers, product managers, and engineers to create forward thinking designs that are driven by user scenarios and meet business goals. You will leverage user-centered design patterns, refine scenarios, place designs into user context, and create interactions that align to those requirements. You will need to show attention to detail and passion in the work you produce.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience in a variety of design tools (especially Figma) and processes such as journey mapping and design sprints/workshops.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience creating detailed wireframes (both low and high fidelity), polished design prototypes and other design artifacts in a cutting-edge technology environment.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, design tradeoffs and shifting priorities.
  • Creative and holistic problem solver with a sharp eye for details.
  • Creating and applying established design principles and interaction patterns. Experience using design components and pattern libraries.
  • Experience with Security domain.
  • Demonstrated breadth across interaction design, information architecture, usability
  • Effective interpersonal communication and visual storytelling skills
  • Able to scope and estimate efforts accurately and prioritize workload independently
  • Awareness of inclusive design and how it supports Microsoft’s mission.
  • Experience within the Security domain.
  • Experience designing for Artificial Intelligence.
  • Understanding of Large Language Model (LLM).

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver world-class design solutions from initial concept through finished product
  • Provide insightful perspectives and ideas that will help shape the direction of company-wide investments in the security space.
  • Advocate for your design solutions by putting them in context of business, user goals, and ecosystem considerations.
  • Incorporate system and framework thinking and pattern-matching into solutions to reinforce integrity of design system and product cohesion
  • Contribute to the visual systems and visual language for a product.
  • Work closely and constructively with product management, content designers, user researchers, engineers and other designers to iterate and deliver design artifacts and solutions.
  • Create wireframes, journey maps, prototypes and detailed mockups to iterate on product scenarios.
  • Seek out and incorporate the feedback of the design team to refine your designs and align to larger product patterns.
  • Clearly communicate your work to peers and leadership.
  • Work alongside leadership team members to create compelling narratives for a specific product or feature and develop product architectures and systems.
  • Contribute to evaluating and prioritizing work.
  • Ship world-class applications that delight technical roles with an emphasis on AI, craft, quality, trust, and positive user and societal impact.
  • Own multiple product areas, identify new opportunities and generate innovative through deep customer understanding, ensuring the experience vision is driven by user needs and manage launches and iterations.
  • Find your own path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.
  • Cross-functional and cross-divisional communication and dependency management, scoping and scheduling, and seeing through implementation by collaborating with engineering through the finish line.
  • Thrive in a complex, design-driven, product development cycle. Measure success with data and research.
