Overview

Microsoft’s Customer Experience (CXP) team is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Product Manager to lead Release Management. This role will be central to how Microsoft delivers change to customers—ensuring that product updates, feature rollouts, and communications are timely, transparent, and trusted. You will partner closely with the Change Communications Hub (CCH) Change Communications and Program Management teams, and engineering stakeholders to drive a consistent and scalable release experience across Microsoft 365 and Copilot.

This role also plays a key part in advancing Microsoft’s quality initiatives to enhance the reliability, capacity, and resilience of our services. You will help operationalize key quality principles—especially around safe change management and customer trust—within the release lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, release management, or program management in a technology or SaaS environment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, and customer success, and understanding of enterprise customer needs, especially in regulated industries.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft 365, Copilot, and change management frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with release governance, compliance, or customer trust programs.
  • Familiarity with tools like Seismic, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or internal Microsoft publishing platforms.
  • Background in customer experience, field enablement, or technical communications.
  • Exposure to quality focus areas such as incident management, resiliency, and capacity planning.
Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end release management strategy for customer-facing change communications across Microsoft 365 and Copilot.
  • Partner with the CX (Customer Experience) leads, CCH and engineering teams to verify alignment of all communication endpoints and change narratives with product milestones and customer expectations.
  • Define and manage release cadences, validation workflows, and publishing processes to ensure high-quality, discoverable, and actionable content.
  • Collaborate with PMs, CX leads, and field teams to ensure readiness and alignment across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of the Common Measurement Framework and “felt impact” metrics to assess release quality and customer experience.
  • Leverage telemetry, customer feedback, and incident learnings to continuously improve the release experience and reduce customer confusion or dissatisfaction.
