Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer II to work on Windows Drivers (kernel and user-mode) and Windows Services for Surface Devices. This position will be responsible for partnering closely with electrical engineers, system engineers, firmware engineers and architects for feature definition and implementation, delivering product designs that are optimized for high volume consumer products. This position will be responsible for executing on a roadmap partnering closely with system architects, IHVs, and Windows OS teams. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) experience in design, implementation, debugging and testing of Windows operating system drivers and/or, Windows system software.
- 1+ years’ experience working with hardware devices and/or debugging.
- 1+ years’ experience with kernel debugging and memory dump analysis.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 1+ years of experience in design, implementation, debugging and testing of Windows operating system drivers & system software.
- Experience in reviewing Hardware schematics.
- Working knowledge of OS primitives: memory management, scheduling, interrupts, threading and ACPI is an added advantage.
- A deep understanding of software lifecycle in a device development environment and the interplay between software and hardware development and schedules.
- Able to effectively collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated experience in driving requirements and translating them into solutions.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
