The Microsoft 365 (M365) platform is becoming increasingly relevant in the age of AI to enable developers to leverage and build on top of M365. We currently have a rich set of platform Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with many more on the future product roadmap. This is an exciting opportunity to think broadly as well deeply on the right set of business models for these M365 platform APIs.

The Senior Business Planner – Microsoft 365 Platform falls under the Monetization and Business Planning (M+BP) functional organization. M+BP is responsible for monetization strategy, pricing, and packaging for the multi-billion-dollar Microsoft Cloud products portfolio. To deliver on this broad charter, we have built a center of excellence with an industry-leading reputation for strategic thought leadership. Within M+BP, this role is within the Productivity and Intelligence Business Planning team which is responsible for monetizing M365 and Business Applications products.

In this role, you will be strategic and exhibit business leadership & acumen, cross-group collaboration, analytical skills, and communication skills. This is an opportunity to drive a measurable revenue impact on one of the company’s strategically significant growth areas.

Job Location: The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based: Atlanta, GA, Mountain View, CA, and New York City, New York. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 50% from home.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in pricing, corporate strategy, technology product management, management consulting, technology product, finance or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience using data to solve problems and support strategic decisions.
  • 3+ years of experience communicating with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • 3+ years of experience aligning teams around shared goals across product, marketing, and engineering.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in pricing, corporate strategy, technology product management, management consulting, technology product, finance, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Physics, Economics, Business, Finance or related field
    • OR 6+ years experience in pricing, corporate strategy, technology product management, management consulting, technology product, finance, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience.

Business Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, product marketing, finance, sales, and others, to drive monetization strategy, pricing decisions, and packaging constructs for M365 Platform APIs
  • Brings together inputs to inform decisions on M365 Platform APIs product strategy and related business models across Microsoft by partnering closely within M+BP, relevant product, finance and marketing teams
  • Conduct market research to understand competitive dynamics, customer segmentation, and customer willingness to pay to help define optimal business models
  • Propose pricing changes and discounting guidance to improve the profitability of offers and address varying market needs
  • Partner with commerce and launch teams to launch new products across our go-to-market channels
  • Build knowledge of the M365 Platform and become a go-to resource for internal teams.
