The Identity engineering team in Mountain View, CA is looking for a Software Engineer to build and manage Microsoft’s online identity providers. The Identity engineering team builds and manages Microsoft’s online identity providers for all of Microsoft’s online services and platforms like Azure, Office, Xbox, and HoloLens. We boldly pursue big ideas that power transformational advances in online security and user management. Our work spans both the consumer and enterprise space and can be found in internet scale online services, the Windows operating system and most phones and handheld devices. Identity engineering employees have deep technical expertise, customer insights, and a clear point of view that comes from first-hand, very large-scale experience. Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Golang, or Rust
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience with Linux-based systems, including command-line tools and scripting.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Golang, or Rust
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Golang, or Rust
- OR equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Linux, networking protocols, L3/4 firewalls, L7 proxy (nginx, envoy, ha-proxy)
- Contributions to open-source software projects
- experience in cloud services (such as Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hands-on expertise with Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code and monitoring/logging tools.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop large scale distributed software services and solutions that have a real impact on our customers and partners.
- Drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews, ensuring that our services are built to the highest standards and are scalable, secure, and reliable.
- Work on system design through well-defined interfaces across multiple components, leveraging data/telemetry to make informed decisions, and conducting code reviews to ensure that our services are modularized, actively monitored, and reusable.
- Improve test coverage for our services, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas to ensure that our services are testable, portable, and maintainable
- Gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses and collaborate with mentors and leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users, focusing on customer/partner needs through a data-driven approach.
- Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability, and monitoring for Live Site, ensuring that our services are always up and running for our customers.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support and debug customer-reported issues as well as internally created service incidents, demonstrating your commitment to providing the best possible service to our customers
