Microsoft Cyber Defense Operations is looking for a Cyber Security Analyst II for our US Government Cloud. As a Cyber Security Analyst II, you will have the opportunity through advanced security technologies and extensive automation to detect security threats, conduct comprehensive investigations, and drive issues to remediation and closure. In addition, you will collaborate with teams across the company on technology and processes to improve automation, detection, response, drive security efforts, and identify innovative solutions at the highest levels for cyber defense that will protect the company as well as our global customers.

The Microsoft Cyber Defense Operations team seeks motivated, experienced security professionals to join our team. There are few places in Microsoft that have as much direct impact on as many customers as Microsoft Cyber Defense Operations team, it is the front line that defends our customers that use Microsoft's Cloud platform and online services. The government security team further specializes in defending the Microsoft platforms that support and enable our U.S. Government partners.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field OR 3+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response.

Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance
  • Criminal Justice Information Services: This position requires passing a background check conducted
    through the CJIS criminal justice information system by authorized local, state, and/or federal agencies.

Security Operations Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Detect and respond to advanced threats, actor techniques, anomalous or suspicious activity, combined with intelligence, to identify potential and active risks to systems and data.
  • Conduct detailed comprehensive analysis, investigation, and triage on a wide variety of security events and implement containment, mitigation, and response processes.
  • Drive prioritization of significant security events across the operations center and incident response teams.
    Develop and maintain operational playbooks that guide security operation’s day to day activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external security partners to identify indications and warnings of impending threats.
  • Use security business intelligence to drive prioritization and improvements within Microsoft security programs.
    Participate in shifts, on call rotations, and after-hours responsibilities and escalations in a 24x7 environment
