Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. Our mission is to build the data platform for the age of AI, powering a new class of data-first applications and driving a data culture.

Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

The Data Modernization team within Azure Data builds Database migration capabilities. Database migration is an area that is top of mind for the Azure organization as a whole and is an extremely visible, crucial, and fast-moving area of investment for the team. These set of services are the newest addition of services being built by the team and are driven by the all-important momentum of migrating and modernizing customer workloads from on-premises to Azure. These are extremely high scale hybrid services, and their goal is to help customers migrate their workloads from wherever they are to Azure and modernize on the way.

We are looking for engineers with a strong technical background and passion to research new areas, write optimal code, enhance coding standards and ship fast. Engineers who are interested in developing a state-of-the-art migration capabilities. Their contributions will be crucial in the execution phase, focusing on delivering high-quality solutions efficiently. Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

3+ years of software development experience.
2+ years of Full stack experience
Proficiency in one of the following languages - C#, or Java, TypeScript, JS
Solid problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
Working in agile teams with strong customer focus.
Good communication and cross group collaboration skills.
Experience in Cloud and distributed systems is a big plus.
Experience with both Windows and Linux

Responsibilities

Design and Develop secure, testable and maintainable code
Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
Embrace agile engineering practices and dev-ops culture with Live Site focus. End to End engineering (from architecture to Livesite) accountability for the services
Carry out quick proofs of concepts, troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
Develop end to end telemetry pipeline and live site monitors and alerts
Leverage data and telemetry to make decisions and drive feedback into systems design and implementation
