Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is responsible for Worldwide Tax & Customs Reporting, Compliance, and Planning, including the technology and process & innovation functions to support the coordination of the worldwide tax and Customs functions. There are four major functions within the Tax and Customs Department. 1) Tax Reporting and Transfer Pricing 2) Customs, Tax Process & Innovation, 3) Corporate Tax Planning & Controversies, Indirect Tax & Global Business Initiatives 4) Tax & Customs Controllership, Policy and Benefits Taxation. We are excited to hire a Senior Director, Transfer Pricing to lead this critical work.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 11+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 12+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 18 years of specialized transfer pricing experience with a Big 4 firm and industry experience in a global high-tech company OR equivalent.
  • Experience of leading an in-house transfer pricing team with a proven track record.
  • Experience with complex transfer pricing issues involved in acquisitions, IP integrations, and business migrations.
  • Proficiency with complex business systems such as SAP, Hyperion, Mercury, Excel, and/or Alteryx.

Tax M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Set Microsoft’s global transfer pricing strategy, policy, and procedures.
  • Manage transfer pricing aspect of acquisitions and integrations.
  • Manage foreign transfer pricing controversies, APAs, and support Microsoft’s on-going IRS audits.
  • Partner across different regions and business units to ensure Microsoft’s transfer pricing practices synchronize with changes in Microsoft’s business.
  • Support transfer pricing aspects of tax legislative developments including OECD initiatives.
  • Lead the team to execute transfer pricing SOX controls and ensure accuracy of transfer pricing reporting for financial statements.
  • Ensure Microsoft is a role model in global transfer pricing compliance through partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
