Overview

The Microsoft AI Monetization team plays a pivotal role in shaping how Microsoft generates value from its AI innovations, particularly through products like Copilot, Bing, Edge, and Microsoft Advertising. This cross-functional organization is responsible for driving new monetization opportunities, business growth, and pioneering bold bets in AI-driven experiences.


Join our high-impact Program Management (PGMT) team and help lead execution across Microsoft AI Monetization. Our PGMT’s are embedded in the heart of strategic initiatives that power the ai platform shift, create new canvases for monetization growth, enable publisher platforms, real-time systems, and state of the art personalized models. We operate at the intersection of engineering, product, design, and business—ensuring that complex programs are delivered with a customer focus, strategic clarity, and measurable impact.

We are seeking a Principal Program Manager to lead program planning, business operations, and the execution of high-impact strategic initiatives. This role is central to ensuring that our most critical AI monetization efforts move from vision to reality—on time, at scale, and with operational rigor.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development in large-scale tech environments
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Deep experience in building and running operational frameworks and rhythms for cross-functional execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 12+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development in large-scale tech environments
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of people management experience.
  • 10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing technical designs, specs, or systems diagrams and strong business understanding of monetization KPIs (CTR, ROI, spend efficiency, quality scores).

Technical Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning & Delivery
    • Lead end-to-end planning cycles for Microsoft AI Monetization initiatives, including scope definition, milestone development, and cross-functional coordination.
    • Develop detailed execution plans for key strategic programs, aligning engineering, product, operations, and business partners.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Establish and evolve operational rhythms, governance processes, and reporting mechanisms to track and drive program success.
    • Build and maintain execution infrastructure (e.g., dashboards, playbooks, escalation models) to enable repeatable and scalable delivery.
  • Strategic Initiative Execution
    • Drive the execution of complex, cross-company efforts such as new monetization models, pricing platform integrations, partner enablement, and regulatory readiness.
    • Translate strategic priorities into concrete, operational programs that span multiple engineering, legal, compliance, and finance teams.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
    • Serve as a connective force across teams, ensuring alignment and accountability on shared deliverables and priorities.
    • Communicate program status, risks, and decisions with clarity to both executive and technical stakeholders.
