We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Content PM Manager to join our Security Content Organization. This role is ideal for an experienced people manager who is an innovative self-starter with a background in cyber security technology and deep AI expertise. Someone who has a passion for technical content and creating world-class guidance for customers.
As a Principal Content PM Manager, you will manage a team of PMs and writers who operate at the intersection of strategy, innovation and execution - driving a variety of initiatives that span multiple teams and organizations and delivering substantial impact across Microsoft’s content ecosystem and security business. You will have a range of PM responsibilities, starting with critical work focused on leading and guiding the Microsoft Security technical documentation organization through AI transformation, end-to-end security scenario documentation creation, and then extending to other core PM responsibilities spanning tools, infrastructure, cross-team processes, content metrics mapped across the customer journey lifecycle. With this, the ideal candidate is someone who is highly versatile, adaptable, willing to experiment, and with a growth mindset amidst an ever-changing business landscape.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience in program management, digital content publishing and management, or experience in a writing or editing role OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years indirect or direct people management experience.
Other Requirements:
The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Cybersecurity, AI, Technical Writing or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in program, product, or content management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- 3+ years in people management, coaching, PMs or writers and driving morale across the team.
- Extensive knowledge of the cyber security space, competitor landscape, and customer journey.
- Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) including prompt engineering and agent creation and management.
- Familiarity with common AI use cases in documentation, such as auto-tagging, summarization, semantic search, answer generation, and content repurposing.
- Demonstrated success leading initiatives within content or product domains.
- Effective cross-functional collaborator, with experience partnering closely with engineering to define product requirements and technical specifications.
- Proven track record of adaptability, versatility, and the ability to pivot quickly and learn new skills.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in iterative, fast-paced environments.
- Deep understanding of technical documentation practices, content lifecycle workflows, and industry standards.
- Experience with structured content systems, including Markdown, docs-as-code frameworks, and modern content platforms or CMS tools.
- Experience with change management and running large-scale training programs.
- Effective communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to drive cultural change across diverse teams.
- Strategic thinking, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Experience working in matrixed, global organizations.
- Experience with Microsoft’s security services (Defender, Sentinel, Intune, Purview, Entra).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Learn, Docs, or similar platforms.
- Background in technical documentation for developers and security professionals.
- Demonstrated success in leading org-wide transformation efforts.
Content Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities
- Cross-Org Leadership: Manage our PM team to drive alignment across engineering, design, content, and product teams. Broker complex challenges across organizations and teams to deliver unified, scalable solutions.
- End-to-End Security Story: Design and craft the Microsoft Security story across services, creating a clear journey for our customers.
- AI Strategy & Execution: Lead the design and implementation of AI-driven content workflows, tools, and experiences. Champion the responsible use of AI to enhance authoring, publishing, and content quality. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure AI and other major cloud AI platforms, including tools like GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, and ChatGPT.
- AI Readiness: Drive the strategic upskilling and role transformation of teams, preparing them to thrive with AI's evolving impact.
- Data literacy and the ability to analyze content performance and demonstrated ability to align content with business goals and customer needs, especially in complex or cross-cutting technical scenarios.
- Program Management Excellence: Own the roadmap for strategic content initiatives. Manage competing priorities, resolve ambiguity, and deliver high-impact outcomes on multi-year timelines.
- Content Innovation: Apply deep knowledge of technical documentation to evolve our content models, metadata strategies, and customer engagement approaches.
- Customer-Centric Thinking: Use data and customer signals to inform decisions. Drive improvements in content discoverability, usability, and satisfaction.
- Culture & Influence: Create clarity, generate energy, and foster an inclusive environment. Mentor others and model Microsoft’s leadership principles.
