As part of the Microsoft Communications team, you will join a group of professionals focused on telling the stories that help people fall in love with Microsoft, the things we make, and the impact we have in the world.
At team Xbox, we’re on a mission to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet. We’re looking for a Senior Communications Manager, Xbox to lead integrated storytelling for the Minecraft franchise. In this role, you will drive creative storytelling campaigns that elevate Minecraft as a gaming and entertainment franchise, reaching new and diverse audiences. You will be responsible for expanding our storytelling efforts to bring new fans and new players into the franchise. Having a pulse on cultural trends and knowing how to insert a brand like Minecraft into pop culture conversations – both with press and with content creators/influencers – will be valuable.
We're looking for a media-savvy professional with relationships across traditional media (consumer, lifestyle, entertainment press) and new media (content creators/influencers). The ideal candidate is a collaborative partner who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. They are a self-starter that isn’t afraid to try new things and take calculated risks. They embody a learn-it-all mentality, embrace ambiguity, and act with a bias for action.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience landing stories in traditional media (consumer, lifestyle, and entertainment press).
- 4+ years of experience managing content creator/influencer campaigns.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience managing major consumer brands and/or entertainment franchises.
- 6+ years of experience driving seasonal and/or evergreen storytelling campaigns.
- Experience with content creator/influencer tiers, digital platforms, legal and compliance frameworks, and measurement methodologies.
- Experience in the gaming industry.
Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities
- Lead franchise storytelling campaigns that elevate Minecraft as a gaming and entertainment franchise.
- Drive communications strategy and execution for reaching new and diverse audiences, with a focus on consumer press and variety content creators/influencers.
- Provide strategic counsel to executives, marketing, franchise development, and other cross-functional teams to shape our brand narrative.
- Help manage agency of record as integral members of our extended team.
- Help protect the Microsoft, Xbox, and Minecraft brands by identifying and mitigating reputation risk.
