We are looking for a Technical Program Manager II to transform Microsoft’s 1P big data platform. The successful candidate will either be well-versed in general software design and development or have a deep domain knowledge of the storage space. To succeed, you should be self-driven and proactive with a demonstrated history of solving customer problems and having persistence in the face of challenges. An entrepreneurial sense of ownership of the Azure Storage business and the ability to operate autonomously are essential. You must confidently present to and advise customers and partners at all levels of the organization about unifying our Storage stack to align with our 1P=3P philosophy. Success in this role is demonstrated by successfully onboarding the largest internal analytics workloads onto Azure Storage through data and application migrations. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in professional software development or technical program management.
  • 1+ experience leading multiple projects successfully while working with several partners from different teams, organizations, or companies.

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years of experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 1+ year(s) technical background related to data migration and/or data movement.
  • 1+ year(s) demonstrated experience analytical skills, verbal, written communication skills and cross-group collaboration skills

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration of internal Microsoft analytics storage customers to Azure Storage, tracking success criteria across multiple feature areas. Identify opportunities to engage partners and support their transition to Azure Storage.

  • Manage the roadmap for several feature areas and collaborate with partner teams to achieve scenario-level parity using Azure Data Lake Storage.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers on customer communications, feature roll-outs, and support strategies.

  • Work closely with development teams to gather telemetry and inform migration decisions based on feature usage, scale requirements, and account/data sizes.

  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for internal customers regarding storage migration. Engage with customers early to understand their needs, present appropriate solutions, and support decision-making around migration timelines and strategy.

  • Document common customer scenarios and create high-quality materials that can be shared broadly. Communicate strategy, customer insights, technical documentation, and presentations tailored to various stakeholder levels, including executives.

  • Partner across disciplines—including engineering, capacity management, business, and other teams—to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
