Overview
Azure Data Manager for Energy (ADME) helps Energy companies gain actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and accelerate time to market on the enterprise-grade, cloud-based Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU®) Data Platform service. It supports innovation with a flexible, open energy platform that developers can build upon and customize.
ADME engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Azure Storage, to be the Microsoft engineering lead and technical representative in the OSDU community. This individual will contribute to the OSDU code base through a structured open-source development process, ensuring quality, compliance, and interoperability across the platform.
This role requires a deep commitment to open-source software (OSS) principles and a proven track record of contributing to or maintaining OSS projects. Familiarity with the OSDU platform is highly desirable, especially in contexts involving data ingestion, platform architecture, or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Language (AI/ML) applications in Energy or industrial domains.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, Java, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience building large scale cloud services
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year(s) working knowledge of the OSDU platform, including data ingestion workflows, manifest files, and metadata standards.
- 1+ year(s) of experience in the Energy or industrial sectors where OSDU is applied.
- 1+ year(s) proficiency with big data technologies and analytics platforms; Spark, Elastic Search, Databricks, ADLS.

Responsibilities
- Influence OSDU technical direction and long-term vision across teams and member organizations by contributing to, maintaining, or initiating projects relevant to ADME mission in OSDU.
- Actively engage in the OSDU milestone capabilities selection and scoping process. Drive and participate through measurable contributions on behalf of ADME/Microsoft working towards the goal of launching OSDU milestone releases with high quality and backwards compatibility.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams across multiple energy projects in the OSDU community.
- Ensure adherence to secure coding practices, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
- Engage in the community through active participation in the OSDU community review process.
