As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Azure security governance, you’ll lead critical, cross-functional programs that drive AI-powered innovation, operational excellence, and internal customer-focused results. Your expertise in technology and leadership will be essential to align teams, deliver at scale, and advance Microsoft’s security vision.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 2+ years of experience managing regulatory compliance or audits.

Other Requirements:

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government clearance.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, security operations, compliance, audit, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with and awareness of emerging privacy and data governance related regulations.
  • Technical certifications in Azure, Security and AI.
  • Familiarity with AI transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated success in driving operational excellence and innovation in enterprise environments.
  • The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements may be required for this role.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs with technical depth and business impact.
  • Experience with Azure governance, compliance, and delivery frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of AI integration in infrastructure and delivery contexts.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace a “compliance by design” mindset; proactively identify systemic gaps that should be integrated into program design and elevate them to the appropriate owners. Prevent local/one-off solutioning whenever possible and lead creation, definition, and enforcement of compliance frameworks across Azure infrastructure and delivery.
  • Champion a secure-by-default approach by identifying and addressing cloud security risks, integrating security at all development stages, and leading teams to adopt secure development frameworks and standards.
  • Lead the integration of AI-powered automation, risk detection, and governance enhancements to accelerate innovation and optimize delivery across infrastructure workflows.
  • Accountable for delivery of measurement frameworks, processes, and maturity models to both understand and improve the bar of technical compliance across the portfolio that meets the rhythm of business with executive leadership.
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Coordinate collaboration among engineering, business operations, and security teams to ensure clear accountability, regular governance alignment, and transparent risk management for all stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal and customer delivery teams on compliance-related matters, including policy development, risk management, and incident response.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Drive operational excellence by delivering scalable programs through monitoring Azure health and consumption metrics, reducing subscription sprawl, optimizing resource use, and promoting delivery success via milestone tracking, value-based outcomes, and data-driven planning.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the compliance program, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Work with security teams to help them navigate and meet regulatory requirements, ensuring the organization achieves and maintains necessary certifications.
  • Coordinate with other privacy, compliance, and risk management leaders in the company to ensure Microsoft Security’s programs are aligned and partner closely with governance owners
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance and regulatory matters, providing strategic advice and guidance to senior leadership.
  • Stay up to date with the latest regulatory changes and industry best practices and ensure the compliance program is continuously updated to reflect these changes.
