Overview

We are hiring multiple Software Engineers II and Senior Software Engineers to join the Microsoft 365 team. These are remote positions, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home!

The Microsoft 365 team is looking for software engineers to help design and build one of the fastest-growing cloud services at Microsoft.

More About Your Responsibilities

Software Engineers at Microsoft play a key role in driving technical details for their product teams. They design and implement services that are high-scale, low-latency, always-on, and cost-effective to maintain and operate. They collaborate with principal engineers and architects to design components and influence common development patterns. Strong partnership and influence skills are essential, along with motivation and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Qualifications

Main Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in software design and backend service development.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in an object-oriented language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, or equivalent experience with C.
  • Global collaboration is integral to our work at Microsoft, and proficiency in English is essential for effective communication in this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Ability to communicate technical details clearly.
  • Experience in DevOps for live services or application frameworks.
  • Cloud services experience; Azure experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to software design.
  • Passion for building reliable, well-tested services.
  • Experience with Agile and iterative development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive projects through to delivery, removing obstacles to ensure success.
  • Contribute to the design of large-scale distributed software services and solutions.
  • Write clean, well-tested code.
  • Champion and improve team software engineering practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with related teams to achieve goals.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and contribute to onboarding documentation.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to monitor service health and manage incidents.
