We’re hiring for a Touch & Display Hardware Electrical Engineer II in Redmond, WA, focused on developing next-gen touch display modules. You’ll define display and system architecture, drive technology development through mass production, troubleshoot system-level issues, and conduct root-cause analyses of display failures. This on site role involves close collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams across Microsoft.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Required basic EE design knowledge, power distribution (buck, boost), analog switching, high-speed digital circuit including low-voltage differential signaling, design tolerance and noise mitigation.
  • Experience in display and touch interface technology (I2C, SPI, eDP, MIPI DSI).
  • Experience in display and touch EE integration - TCON Display Driver interconnect, Panel PMIC, Touch controller integration experience including EMI/RFI mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in creating Windows-based drivers and interface applications/scripting.
  • Knowledge of touch development practices, system and production touch testing, and firmware validation in touch-enabled systems.
  • Familiarity with touch panel integration challenges such as latency, scan rate, and FW tuning.
  • Experience with touch firmware integration as part of a system, touch ASIC bring-up, and system-level debugging..
  • Ability to plan work and adjust as needed in a dynamic environment.
  • Motivated and self-driven attitude.

Electrical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year. Responsibilities

  • You will follow implementation schedules for a feature or product while highlighting potential downstream issues. You’ll also help implement risk assessments and communicate progress within the team.
  • You will help create detailed reports for a product feature or extension. This will include documenting essential details and accurate recording and tracking design changes with guidance.
  • You will design analog and digital mixed-signal circuits for advanced touch and display modules.
  • Develop new display and touch technologies and support system-level implementation.
  • You will participate in cost analysis, component design scoping, and define hardware and software integration requirements to create engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners—Program Management, software/hardware development, display, and touch controller vendors.
