Overview
The Government Affairs Director in Taiwan manages Microsoft's relationship with government entities. Reporting to the CELA Lead in Taiwan, this role provides strategic vision and leadership for developing and executing top-priority program frameworks to achieve policy and political goals. The Director ensures that regulations and legislation positively impact Microsoft's products, operations, associates, and customers by collaborating with coalitions and relevant interest groups.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public administration, or a related field AND 6+ years of work experience in Government Affairs, Corporate Affairs, or Public Policy.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills with fluency in both English and Chinese languages.
- Adept diplomatic skills with demonstrated capability to manage geopolitical challenges, and to engage with high-ranking governmental authorities, research/academic institutions, community, or relevant industry associations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public/technology policy priorities, especially on national security, cybersecurity and technology resilience.
- The ideal candidate will have both public and private sector experience in institutions like the government, a multilateral organization, a corporate government affairs office, an industry association, coalition or equivalent group, and/or a policy-focused research institution.
- Ability to counsel senior business leadership in the company with demonstrated capability to build and execute public policy programs that support business growth and policy objectives.

Responsibilities
- Internal Collaboration: Facilitate the resolution of government regulatory/ policy barriers against Microsoft by collaborating with senior executives within legal and non-legal organizations. Educate executive-level stakeholders on government/regulatory requirements and policy landscape implications. Stay closely connected with regional and US Government Affairs teams and lead/participate in cross-group projects of strategic importance to Microsoft.
- Strategy/Program Management: Anticipate and address novel issues and opportunities in a rapidly changing environment. Provide advice and counsel to executive management on complex and critical issues. Lead the formation of Microsoft’s policy agenda and positions. Direct strategies to ensure regulations and legislation positively impact Microsoft's products and operations.
- Commitment to Performance Management: Lead the v-team to accept change and stay agile, maintain performance levels while responding to changing circumstances and demands.

- Representing Microsoft: Drive the communication framework and messaging development for Government Affairs. Determine strategy for developing internal/external events to drive Government Affairs objectives and social media engagement.
- External Relationships: Provide thought leadership for identifying and unblocking potential regulatory issues. Partner with the Public Sector and other key business/client leads. Create strategic partnerships and coalitions with governmental and non-governmental thought leaders. Drive strategic long-term relationships with key political leadership and trade/think tank organizations.
- Deliver Results Through Teamwork: Drive the execution of projects by identifying customer and operational needs, setting priorities, removing barriers and obstacles, and allocating resources. Partner and collaborate with other teams on related deliverables.
- Subject Matter Expertise and Influence: Advise and partner with senior executives and key external stakeholders to gain buy-in on policy positions. Prepare senior and executive stakeholders for public testimony on complex issues. Provide thought leadership and champion cutting-edge initiatives and solutions. Maintain relationships with key influencers to gather and apply intelligence findings. Develop and implement strategies for leveraging partnerships with external partners and key influencers.
