Incident Management (IcM) is a mission critical service in Azure CXP. It is the One Incident Management System for all Microsoft services, the cornerstone of our efforts to enable every Microsoft service team to efficiently manage incidents and keep services healthy. Having all Microsoft service incidents in one place enables us to run data analytics and AI on it and helps us detect incident patterns to reduce Time to Mitigation (TTM) and even avoid future incidents.

IcM is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about and experienced in delivering enterprise-level solutions with AI/ML technologies. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering AI-powered solutions in IcM to improve incident and outage mitigation efficiency, and to boost the productivity of on-call engineers across Microsoft. You will work on high-impact projects that directly shape how our cloud services remain reliable at a global scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experiences with AI/ML technologies.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • A proven track record of shipping high quality products or solutions
  • Experiences in building, evaluating and optimizing AI models and solutions

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable, production-grade AI solutions integrate with IcM eco systems and experiences.
  • Optimize AI solution performance for real-time inference and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, test and ship new features.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
