Overview

Games continue to evolve and push the boundaries of entertainment as we know it. The bar to deliver world-class games continues to rise, driven by advantages in better hardware and software capabilities. Along with optimizing game development engines, developing infrastructure and workflows for efficient remote and hybrid development, brings new opportunities and engineering challenges that all studios are facing today. Solving these challenges is critical to enabling efficient hybrid teams as well as external globally distributed development partners who help scale during peak phases of development. At The Coalition Studio, through our work on the acclaimed Gears of War franchise, we are tackling these problems head-on by leading engine innovation, developing technical showcase technologies, and delivering world-class workflows, tools and features that are adopted across the wider Xbox Game Studios organization.

We are seeking a Senior AI/ML Software Engineer with a focus on AI/Machine Learning to productionize AI and ML projects and solve real-world business challenges in game development. A successful candidate will primarily focus on building scalable, production-ready systems that enhance operational efficiency, automate workflows, and deliver measurable impact. Unlike research-focused roles, this position emphasizes implementation, integration, and iteration of ML models within existing software ecosystems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3 years’ experience as a Software Engineer
  • 1+ year of experience integrating machine learning libraries or services into production ready systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous work using generative AI techniques and open-source machine learning models.

  • Experience working in a cross-functional team including engineering, art and design.

  • A growth mindset and excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective communication skills; ability to work closely with other high-caliber engineers and artists.
