We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the App Agents team within Power Apps.

This team will build Agents and services that enable near real-time insights and agentic assistance across model-driven apps. You’ll work on highly scalable systems that empower makers to build intelligent agents per app, transforming how users interact with data and automation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Technical leadership experience and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Full-stack experience working on front and backend development.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Experience with Semantic Kernel, Azure AI services, Kubernetes, React, Javascript, Typescript.
  • Deep understanding of service fundamentals: reliability, scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Familiarity with agentic AI concepts and Copilot Studio.
  • Domain knowledge in security, privacy, and compliance.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Architect and develop scalable microservices, agents and SDKs that power agentic experiences in business apps.
  • Lead technical design and implementation of existing and new features.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists and partner teams to deliver high-impact solutions with high-reliability.
  • Lead innovation in low-code and pro-code extensibility, enabling makers to build custom agents with ease.
  • Lead users from an autonomy scale of 1 to 10 and maximize end-user productivity.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and performance across all service components.
  • Continuously improve developer experience and platform capabilities through experimentation and feedback loops.
